Prestage Farms

Former Prestage Interns

College Internships:

We offer pork and poultry production internships.  These are hands-on learning experiences that offer real world production experience.  In general, our internship is a 10 week program that starts around Memorial Day and runs through the end of July.  College interns work between 40-48 hours per week depending on what department they are working in and whether or not you are working weekends.  The internship is paid, and housing is generally offered when it is locally available.

Swine Production Internships:

The majority of time will be spent on company sow farms.  Interns will work in all departments on the farm including breeding/gestation and farrowing. Other departments of the company interns will experience include working with the Farrowing, Nursery and Finishing Service Organizations, Land Development, Swine Haulers & Loaders, our swine veterinarian as well as gaining insight into our support operations including the two company feed mills, maintenance, garage, and warehouse facilities, diagnostic and feed labs, and AI Centers.

Turkey Production Internship:

Interns will work through all phases of this fully integrated and learn daily operations for turkey breeder farms, hatchery, and contract grower brooder and growout facilities.  In addition, each turkey production intern will spend time in our processing plant as well as gain insight into our support operations including the two company feed mills, maintenance, garage, and warehouse facilities, as well as diagnostic and feed labs.

To Apply to one of our internships, please email a current resume and cover letter to Warren Perry.  The deadline for Summer 2020 is Friday, February 28, 2020.

In addition to our internships offered in North Carolina, internships may be available at our other divisions as well.

Prestage Farms of Mississippi offers an 11-week summer internship program that encompasses the following areas: sow farm operations including breeding and gestation/farrowing, time in our AI center including laboratory analysis, gilt selection and vaccination procedures with our vaccination crew, and time understanding the main functions in our main office, feed mill, and warehouse.
