Pork Division

What began with only 500 sows in 1983, is now the  United States' fourth largest producer of pork.

The Prestage Farms pork division has over 100,000 premium sows which are bred, fed, and managed for the production of lean, nutritious pork, a product required by today's consumer.  Prestage Farms produces near 600 million pounds of pork annually and is very competitive nationally in production statistics such as daily weight gain, livability, feed conversion, and pig farrowing rates.

Prestage's production facilities consist of genetic breeding, farrowing, nursery, and finishing buildings.  These state-of-the-art facilities are designed to optimize the growth potential of the animals.

The company's facilities and equipment are operated in safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible ways.  Prestage Farms maintains a zero-tolerance for any detriment to the earth's natural resources.

Seventy-five percent of the sow herd is managed in company-owned facilities by highly skilled employees who administer the company's animal husbandry practices.
